Jeff Zucker is CNN’s top executive who resigned on Wednesday after failing to disclose a romantic relationship with another senior executive at the company, which has long been regarded as the worst kept secret in television.

In a memo to coworkers, Zucker, who has led the cable network for nine years, said his relationship with Allison Gollust, CNN’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer, came up during a probe into Chris Cuomo.
Zucker’s resignation was announced via a statement shared by the network’s Chief Media Correspondent Brian Stelter. In the statement, Zucker said,
“I acknowledged the relationship evolved in recent years. I was required to disclose it when it began but I didn’t. I was wrong. As a result, I am resigning today.”
Allison Gollust has reportedly worked with the former CNN president for over 20 years. Nonetheless, their rumored relationship has been the subject of numerous media allegations over the years. While Zucker has resigned, Gollust has confirmed that she will continue to work for the network. She is the executive vice president and chief marketing officer of the network.
He is the latest media executive to be forced to resign because of a relationship with a subordinate colleague, in this case, a consensual one that was not disclosed to an employer, as is customary in such cases.
