Chuck Love, a Former Associate Head Coach at Nebraska, Is Accused of Misconduct.
Ashley Scoggin, a former basketball player at Nebraska from 2020 to 2022, has filed a civil action against former associate head coach Chuck Love for alleged misconduct. She accuses Chuck Love, former Nebraska assistant head coach, of using his position and power to lure her into a sexual relationship. The complaint, filed on Sunday, names Love, head coach Amy Williams, athletic director Trev Alberts, and the Nebraska School of Regents as defendants.
Scoggin is seeking specific compensation for the alleged infringement of her civil rights. Nebraska admitted being aware of the complaint but denied the charges, noting that it intends to strongly fight the case. Scoggin, who currently plays for UNLV, accuses Williams and Alberts of neglecting to set adequate boundaries between players and coaching staff. According to the complaint, Love started asking Scoggin out for drinks and emailing her late at night while on an academic internship in the sports department.
According to the complaint, Love gave Scoggin the impression that he could ‘ make or break her’ in terms of her team position and future. Scoggin also says that Love called her for s*x in his hotel room during a road game. After declining to partake in a group s*x session with Love and an unidentified second guy, she felt she was given less playing time by the squad.
The complaint also claims that team members caught and recorded Scoggin in Love’s hotel room in February 2022. Moreover, Williams urged team members to investigate Scoggin during a team meeting, eventually suspending her. Despite the event, Love remained on paid suspension until his resignation on May 13, 2022.
