Nothing screams “I like tattoos” more than once on your face, yet Mexican musician Christian Nodal has many on his face alone. He has now added another facial tattoo to his collection. This time, it’s a homage to the state of Sonora in Mexico, as well as a local tribe.
Christian Nodal’s New Face Tattoo Gives Him a New Look
On May 30, 2022, word spread on the internet that Nodal had had fresh tattoos on his face. A few photos and videos of the artist with a fresh painting on his face went viral that day. On May 29, he started the process of obtaining fresh tattoos on his face. He asked indigenous artist Nina Barnett to paint some temporary drawings over his face, going across the bridge of his nose, just before his show that night.
“The face paint that he wears represents protection for the warriors,” Barnett said of the design. The design was inspired by the traditions of the Comcaac people, an indigenous community from the Mexican state of Sonora. “The meaning I offered him while producing this artwork was to wish him luck for all the undertakings in his life,” she said, adding that Nodal was a nice guy who respected people.
His new tattoo, however, was not the same as the drawings Barnett had drawn on his face. It did, however, convey the ideas of the picture. The new ink is a line of six crimson, inverted triangles over the bridge of his nose. Nodal has yet to upload an Instagram photo with the tattoo, although he has shared a few selfies on his Instagram stories. His new design is plainly evident in these pictures, and it seems to be precisely aligned with the tattoos behind his eyes.

Why Has Christian Nodal Inked His Face?
While Nodal has been adding tattoos to his body in recent months, he has also been erasing and covering up others. The tattoos that have been erased or covered up are mostly about his ex-fiancee, Belinda Peregrin. Nodal has previously covered up a breast tattoo of Belinda’s eyes. He announced in April 2022 that he had tattooed wings over his eyes, which covered a big section of his chest.
In February 2022, he also covered up a ‘Beli’ design near his right ear. All of these additions and cover-ups are consistent with the reason he began getting tattoos, namely facial tattoos. Getting his face tatted, he told Life & Style, was a way for him to take his devotion to the next level. “I take my interests to the next level. Perhaps having tattoos on your face seems more extreme “Nodal denied that he was hiding behind his tattoos. Instead, he was just being himself.
