Chris Davidson A Surfing Champion Passed Away At The Age Of 45

Chris Davidson, a well-known surfer, died on September 24, 2022, at the age of 45, after being engaged in a scuffle outside a bar on New South Wales mid-north coast. Kelly Slater, Davidson’s longtime opponent, paid homage to him in an Instagram story, writing:

“Another soldier was killed yesterday. #RipChrisDavo. I had several nice fights with this guy. One of the most naturally gifted surfers I have ever met.”

As he tweeted about Chris’s death, Surfing NSW executive director Mark Windon described him as a “larger-than-life figure.”

Chris Davidson was killed after allegedly being attacked in a rural pub in New South Wales, Australia. On September 24, at about 11 p.m., Davidson got into a fight with a guy called Hrant Coleman, following which Davidson collapsed and injured his head on the concrete. Police responded to a complaint from the Sportsman’s Way bar in South West Rocks, and when they arrived, Davidson was unconscious on the ground. Paramedics came in an ambulance and took Chris to a local hospital, where he died shortly after.

Coleman was apprehended early Sunday morning at his home in South West Rocks. According to the Daily Telegraph, Grant is the brother of NSW Waratahs head coach Darren Coleman. The 42-year-old has been charged with causing death by assault. On the same day, he appeared at Port Macquarie bail court and was refused bail.

Every website gives a different birth date for Chris Davidson. Some people stated 1976, while others claimed 1977. During the early 1990s, he was a member of the Rip Curl Search squad, and surfing magazine Tracks labeled him one of the world’s most outstanding surfers at the time.

He began his career at the age of 19 and received a wildcard for the Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach. Davidson had previously beaten Kelly Slater in the 2010 Rip Curl Pro Portugal, and he was rated 14th in the world in surfing that year. He subsequently retired from surfing professionally.

He has represented Australia in a number of international contests, including the 2009 Billabong Pro in Spain. He made it to the finals but lost. At an early age, Davidson was connected to the Rip Curl Search crew, where he made several free surfing footages with his pal Mick Fanning. Prior to his surfing career, he suffered many operations while also dealing with family issues and drug addiction. He did, however, make a return in 2000 and began competing in numerous contests. Despite his popularity as a surfer, nothing is known about his work and educational background.

Chris Davidson has established himself as a skilled surfer throughout the years. When word of his death spread on Twitter, many shared their sorrow. Davidson is survived by members of his family, the names of whom have not yet been divulged.
