Chris Joseph Columbus was born on September 10, 1958, in Spangler, Pennsylvania, USA. He was, however, raised in Champion, Ohio, in the United States. His parents were factory workers.
Michael Columbus was his father’s name, and Mary Irene (née Puskar) was his mother’s name. He has no siblings and is of Italian and Czech descent. He has always enjoyed drawing since he was a child. He began making storyboards and then 8mm films in high school.
He was accepted to New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts to further his education. His classmate at the time was legendary actor Alec Baldwin. He received a scholarship but forgot to renew it, so he had to work in a factory to pay his tuition.
