Jones was assigned to the Richmond Braves’ triple-A affiliate following a standout season.

Chipper made his NBA debut as the league’s youngest player on September 11, 1993. Ron Gant was expected to challenge for the starting left field position in 1994 after fracturing his leg in an offseason dirt bike accident. In 1995, Jones led all major league rookies in RBIs.
