His first appearance in front of the camera was in the film “High Falls,” after which he landed his first significant role as Ethan in the apocalyptic science fiction film “I Am Legend,” in which he co-starred with Will Smith. In 2007, he also appeared in two more films: “Trainwreck: My Life as an Idiot” and “Once Upon a Film.”

Charlie played Danny Willis in the 2008 film “Nights in Rodanthe,” based on Nicholas Sparks’ novel of the same name, and made his first appearance in the TV series “Fringe.” In 2010, he appeared in the horror film “Burning Cloud” and had his first co-starring role in the film “Charlie St. Cloud” alongside Zac Efron – he also appeared in four episodes of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” that year.

Charlie got his first voice role in Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie” film in 2012, which was a huge success.
