Career

Stayt began his career on a commercial radio station in Gloucester, his hometown. He began his career in radio in London, anchoring Capital Radio’s award-winning news show, The Way It Is. In addition, he reported for LBC and BBC Radio 5 Live. In 1995, he started his television career with ITN. He then worked as a reporter for Five News before hosting the network’s prime-time bulletins and half-hour live discussion shows.

Stayt also anchors Five News’ coverage of the events of September 11, 2001, also known as the September 11 attack. He worked for ITN for eleven years, both as a journalist and as a broadcaster. Stayt has also worked as a Sky News presenter. He has hosted a number of current affairs programs as well as famous live “reality TV” series such as Jailbreak and Are You Telepathic.

Then, in 2006, he joined BBC Breakfast as a relief presenter. He was appointed as its Friday to Sunday presenter the following December. He has been the weekend presenter for BBC Breakfast, the early morning news show aired on BBC One and BBC News, since January 2008. He followed the curriculum to Salford.
