Tynan began her career as a weekend weather anchor and general assignment reporter for WDBJ in Roanoke, Virginia, after graduating from Washington and Lee University. Later, she joined KTNV and became the news anchor for “Good Morning Las Vegas.” Following that, in 1995, she was hired by WPVI. She began her career as a weekend weathercaster and general reporter. She gradually rose through the ranks to become the weekday morning weathercaster.

Tynan began reporting for weeknights at 5:30 and 11 p.m. by 2003. She rose to prominence when she took over as co-host of several locally produced specials, including the 6ABC Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade, the 4th of July Parade, Philly on Wheels, and the Flower Show, replacing Lisa Thomas-Laury.

Tynan is a triathlete in addition to being a well-known meteorologist. She has four sub-3 hour marathons under her belt and was a world-class professional duathlete in the past. She also finished in the top ten of her age group at the 2003 Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. Tynan is even featured on the cover of Runner’s World Magazine’s February 2001 issue.
