They remained together despite some rumors about how they would end up parting ways. People assumed that they would outgrow their feelings for one another. She once said that she was bored with monogamy. Sarkozy, too, was said to be growing tired of a woman who understood nothing about politics. People’s mental gymnastics did not come to fruition.
On the other hand, Bruni’s life improved because of his presence. Sarkozy had her abstain from drinking. He has never drunk in his life, but she adores it. “I adore wine and champagne, but I don’t drink it when it’s just the two of us,” she told The New York Times in 2017.
