Bryan Norcross began his broadcasting career in 1968 and 1969 as a disc jockey on WTAI, a Melbourne, Florida, AM station. During his undergraduate years in Tallahassee, Florida, he worked on the radio at WTAL-AM and WFSU-FM.
Additionally, while still in college, he began his career in television as an engineer at WFSU-TV in Tallahassee, Florida. He began his career in 1972 as a maintenance engineer/technical director for WXIA-TV (formerly WQXI-TV) in Atlanta. In 1974, Norcross was promoted to acting Production Manager. Similarly, in 1975, he was hired as the nightly broadcast director at KUSA-TV (then KBTV) in Denver. Norcross was also tasked with creating the 10:00 p.m. news in 1976, which quickly rose to prominence as the market’s highest-rated news show.
