Did you know that a 10-year-old Brie Larson would most certainly spend an hour of recess on the library computer Googling Wikihow for “How do you tell if you’re gay?” It wasn’t anyone’s first guess, but it was the response Larson provided when she completed an online quiz about herself. She participated in the quiz for her YouTube channel. This footage, as predicted, became everyone’s go-to response when asked, “Is Brie Larson gay?” Regardless matter what she said, she hasn’t formally come out as homosexual.
Fans Are Excited to See Gay Brie Larson on the Big Screen
Larson has a lover, whom she often flaunts on social media, thus she is most likely not a lesbian. Nonetheless, they have not given up hope. If not in real life, they are thrilled to see Larson play a gay character on the big screen, particularly after seeing the LGBT overtones in her MCU movie Captain Marvel.

Larson’s character does not have a male love partner, which was one of the LGBT overtones considered. She also has a daughter, who she raises with another female character in the film, fellow Air Force pilot Maria Rambeau (Lashana Lynch). That being said, Larson and Lynch’s on-screen romance was also not canonical.
The Directors Didn’t Put a Stop to the Larson-Lynch Lesbian Chemistry
When Captain Marvel filmmakers Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck were asked whether the fans were onto anything, they gave a cryptic response, according to Comic Book Movie (via Cosmopolitan). The filmmakers stated that Larson’s love connection in the first Captain Marvel film was explored during the early phases of production.
They eventually determined that the narrative was too deep to explore a romantic tangent. Nonetheless, they were fully aware of how fans had shipped various characters in the film, and they did not object to the concept in the least.
I’m sure people have come to their own conclusions about it, and I think that’s part of the joy of producing these pictures: they become the audience’s movies, and they can develop whatever kind of narrative they want for what’s going on off the screen. Marvel has traditionally avoided including LGBTQ+ characters in its big-budget efforts since several of the world’s largest entertainment markets would not allow LGBTQ representation on screen.
Although it is understandable for a commercial brand to hold back on a few things if it means access to broader markets, the fact that LGBTQ+ representation has suffered as a result of that hesitation is, to say the least, disheartening.
The MCU’s LGBTQ+ Superhero
But, to be fair, director Kevin Feige stated in 2019 that Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie will be the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first LGBTQ+ superhero. Fans have since been on board with the Thompson-Larson coupling making it to the big screen. Thankfully, the pair confirmed their theories during a 2019 visit to the ACE Comic-Con event (via Them).
When the moderator asked the two actors what fans may expect to see in the next production, a loud voice in the audience yelled, “Lesbians!” Larson’s now-legendary response: “How can I top ‘lesbians?'”
