Brett Gelman was previously married to Janicza Bravo for almost three years. They began as coworkers, then became friends, and then a relationship. Unlike many Hollywood divorces, however, their romance did not cease with their divorce. They are still cordial and talk on a daily basis. They are still so close that she is his fashion mentor, which she became shortly after they began dating.

Brett Gelman’s Ex-Wife Taught Her Fashion Rules
Gelman and Bravo initially met on the set of a commercial for the New York Lotto. That was some time before they married in 2015. The Stranger Things star was always a fan of “bright apparel,” but he was clueless about fashion. In an interview with Esquire in October 2019, he described how his life turned for the better once his now ex-wife joined it.
“I lacked both flair and direction. That truly hit home for me when I met Janicza Bravo, my ex-wife “he stated. He was wearing “brown, polyester Levi’s from Urban Outfitters” when they first met. So, when enough time had passed in their relationship for her to be brutally honest with him, she urged him to get rid of his old clothing. “Let me take you to A.P.C. and grab you some [expletive] raw denim,” she said.
Gelman raved over his ex-wife and even praised her harsh critiques. “And I embraced it; I felt no defensiveness at all,” he remarked. They had already completed their divorce at the time of the interview, but the breakup did not harm their relationship. He referred to her as his closest friend and said that he still sought her fashion guidance.
“Even though we’re no longer dating, I still email her images of me going out that day,” he said. “‘How does this look?’ I’ll inquire. Is this antique Hawaiian shirt OK to wear with these black jeans?'”
Even after their divorce, she remained brutally honest with him. She would advise him on color choices to use. Bravo sparked his interest in dressing nicely, which he confessed had developed even though she wasn’t around as often.

Gelman and Bravo first worked together as colleagues. The actress disclosed how she convinced him to collaborate with her during a Reddit AMA. “We chose to collaborate because she asked me to,” he said. “I can never say no to a genius. That is a nightmare worth having!” They married on December 22, 2015, after working together and dating for a time. Their Las Vegas wedding registration shows they married in the Main Chapel at 5 p.m.
The most well-known of their collaborations is Lemon, a 2017 film that she co-wrote with him and in which he played the lead character, Isaac Lachmann. They had been sitting on the script for the film for five years before taking the risk of putting it into production. When they initially tried to make the film, the main actor stepped out, and they lost their funding. Even when the film was completed, the afterparty was a disaster. “We are magnets to things that aren’t working well,” Gelman joked about their position with Screen Anarchy in 2017. Throughout the production process, Bravo was repeatedly rejected, and many assumed Gelman was the one who authored the screenplay. Even though she was happy with the misunderstanding after a time, Gelman insisted that it was the other way around.
The film was an amalgamation of how they each perceived the world. It was a collaborative effort. They split in December 2019 after years of marriage, both professionally and sexually. A formal separation, however, has not kept them apart. His current girlfriend seems to be Ari Dayan, a musical musician. In his 2022 Valentine’s Day message, he even referred to her as his “love of loves.” They began dating on December 3, as shown by his anniversary post from 2021, and she appears often on his Instagram. Additionally, he directed her music video for ‘LOVE.’ Theirs seems to be a personal and professional tie as well.
