Brandon Routh enjoyed the original Quantum Leap series.
Routh expressed his gratitude for being a part of the NBC reboot of Quantum Leap, revealing in a statement that he was a huge fan of the original program growing up. He said:
“Growing up on Quantum Leap, it was a privilege to play such an important figure in Addison’s life! Ray [Lee] and Caitlin [Bassett] are a terrific team, and I enjoyed being a part of it. It was also amazing for me as an Iowan to shoot aboard the USS Iowa!”
Raymond Lee, the show’s creator, already hinted at what to anticipate in the future episode.
He told TV Line in an interview:
“Addison may find some closure with her father in a variety of ways. It’s a fantastic dynamic since I’m directly under his authority for the duration of the show. He sometimes plays the father-in-law role for me. There is that energy, and we prefer to embrace it.”
He described the forthcoming episode as “short and cinematic,” and added:
“We have a lot of drone footage in there. Being aboard an operational warship is also a sight to see.”
Routh has played The Atom in episodes such as The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, and Batwoman, in addition to Superman Returns, Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, and Legends of Tomorrow. He appeared on many programs, including The Rookie, Black-ish, Chuck, and One Life to Live.
What exactly is Quantum Leap?
Quantum Leap is a reboot of Donald P. Bellisario’s original series of the same name. The events of the program occurred 30 years after Dr. Sam Beckett entered the Quantum Leap accelerator during the original show’s Season 5 finale. The official NBC Science Fiction summary is as follows:
“Dr. Sam Beckett disappeared about 30 years ago when he walked into the Quantum Leap accelerator. Now, a new team has been recruited, led by scientist Ben Song (Raymond Lee), to continue the research in the hopes of unraveling the mysteries surrounding the machine and the man who invented it.”
It goes on to say:
“Everything changes, however, when Ben takes an unapproved jump into the past, leaving the crew to figure out why. Throughout his jumps, Ben is accompanied by Addison (Caitlin Bassett), who appears as a hologram that only Ben can see and hear. She’s a seasoned Army veteran who approaches her work with calm precision.”
Donald P. Bellisario, Martin Gero, Steven Lilien, Bryan Wynbrandt, Deborah Pratt, Helen Shaver, and Dean Georgaris are among the show’s executive producers.
