His father, Douglas Edward Paisley, was a teacher and his mother, Sandra Jean Paisley, worked for the West Virginia Department of Transportation. Brad has stated that his love of country music stems from his maternal grandpa, who gave Paisley a guitar when he was eight years old and taught him how to play.
