Bob began playing for Pepperdine, Ctvrtlik, in 1985, and he quickly became a vital member of the team. He also played for California State University, Long Beach from 1983 to 1984. He was named all-league there. From 1982 to 1984, he was a member of the Long Beach City College Vikings Men’s Volleyball team. Bob also competed at the 1986 World Championships, which were held in France. After several years of playing volleyball, he became a coach for the United States national team.
