William E. Callahan is an American football coach who has established himself in the National Football League.
He now serves as the Cleveland Browns’ offensive line coach after a lengthy and distinguished football career that started at Mendel Catholic High School in Chicago. Callahan attended Illinois Benedictine College in Lisle, Illinois, where he played quarterback and was named honorable mention All-American. Callahan started his coaching career in 1978 as an assistant coach at Oak Lawn Community High School and De La Salle Institute.

Later, he moved into collegiate coaching, beginning as a graduate assistant at the University of Illinois. Later, he was moved to full-time assistant in 1981, where he taught tight ends, offensive line, quarterbacks, and special teams until 1986. He is generally regarded as one of the greatest offensive line coaches in the NFL, having developed some of the league’s top offensive lineman.
