Bill Belichick Education

Bill and Debby Clarke Belichick have three children: Amanda, Stephen, and Brian. Amanda graduated from Wesleyan University in 2007, where she, like her father, played lacrosse. After college, she worked as a lacrosse coach and in the admissions department at Connecticut prep school Choate Rosemary Hall.
She began her coaching career as an assistant coach for the University of Massachusetts Amherst women’s lacrosse team in 2009 before moving on to the Ohio State Buckeyes the following year. She was named head women’s lacrosse coach at Holy Cross College in Massachusetts in July 2015, after serving as interim head coach at Wesleyan. On scholarship, Stephen played lacrosse and football at Rutgers University.
Stephen joined the New England Patriots as an assistant coach in May 2012, and as of 2016, he is the team’s safeties coach. Brian attended Trinity College and played lacrosse there. Brian was recruited as a scouting assistant by the Patriots in 2016.

Career

Bill Belichick was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns from 1991 to 1995, however, his stint was not prosperous. Belichick’s many eccentricities, ranging from being extremely secretive about players and injuries to being so reluctant and boring with the press that it nearly appears pathological, were exacerbated by the awful teams and bad decisions he made while at Cleveland. Without getting into specifics, Belichick handled things terribly, particularly with the press and others higher up in the organization.

The worst was the thrashing he suffered for demoting local icon QB Bernie Kosar from the starting lineup. Belichick was dismissed after a losing lame-duck season when Cleveland relocated to Baltimore. His time in Cleveland was so awful that he might never have another chance to be a head coach again. The opportunity came after serving as defensive coordinator for the New England Patriots and the New York Jets.
Bill Belichick wanted to be his own man and knew that as a Jets team executive, Parcells would be in charge. Thus, after impressing Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, as defensive coordinator, Bill Belichick was hired as head coach. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Many of Belichick’s idiosyncrasies and peculiarities, which were perceived as evidence of weakness and lack of leadership in Cleveland, became the eccentricities that went into being a successful head coach in today’s NFL when he won three titles in four years in an era of free agency and enormous player movement. However, Bill Belichick is no longer the same man he was in Cleveland.

Bill Belichick’s Wife, Marriage

Bill Belichick was previously married to Debby Clarke, but the couple split in the summer of 2006. They supposedly split up before the 2004 season, which the Patriots revealed in July 2005. Belichick was also accused of having an affair with former Giants receptionist Sharon Shenocca, which contributed to her divorce. Belichick has been in a relationship with Linda Holliday, the Executive Director of Belichick’s charity, since 2007.
