Taeyang is the first Korean male musician to be named worldwide ambassador for Givenchy, one of France’s most recognizable companies recognized for its premium fragrances, cosmetics, and apparel line. The legendary luxury French fashion business formally announced on January 17 that the BIGBANG member is the new face of Givenchy. According to the brand:
“Givenchy is delighted to announce Taeyang’s nomination as the 2023 global ambassador.”
Matthew Williams, the brand’s creative director, praised the idol, calling him an “inspiring artist”:
“Taeyang is an exciting musician – a music pioneer with an original, boundary-breaking method of expressing his own particular style that is ideally suited to today’s Givenchy aesthetic.”
In response, the idol expressed gratitude for the chance to collaborate with the company and begin a new chapter in his life. He went on to say that Givenchy has been an inspiration to him for many years and so has particular importance for him. He also lauded Matthew, adding that for many years, the creative director has been a leader in both fashion and culture.

Taeyang’s nomination as the new face of Givenchy is the third major news from a luxury fashion company this week, after Jimin’s appointment as Dior’s global ambassador collaboration and BTS’ Suga signing a global campaign with Valentino. On January 18, the day following Givenchy’s announcement, the BIGBANG member visited Paris Men’s Fashion Week.

He wore a black sweatshirt and black pants with a Givenchy jacket with the label’s name inscribed on the back. The appearance of the BIGBANG member at Paris Men’s Fashion Week enraged netizens, with several of them recording footage from the event. Some also flocked to Twitter to congratulate the icon on being a Givenchy brand ambassador.
