Bekka Allick is an American collegiate volleyball player. She is the daughter of Colleen Ziegelbein and Melvin Allick. Bekka and her five siblings grew up fighting against one another after being born in Texas to sporty parents. Colleen, her mother, was a basketball player at Northwest Missouri State. Her father, Melvin, who works for the Texas Department of Public Safety, was also a swimmer at UNLV.
Allick, a University of Nebraska business management student, is a middle blocker for the Cornhuskers. Meanwhile, her parents have been a continual source of counsel and support, which she feels will be critical in her future path. Bekka Allick, a student at the University of Nebraska, started her athletic career with VC Nebraska. Aside from that, she spent two years in high school volleyball at two separate schools, Waverly and Lincoln Star. She once guided her team, the VC Nebraska, to a national title triumph. Aside from that, she was a member of the United States U-18 girls’ squad, which competed in the FIVB U18 World Championship in 2021. Furthermore, in 2022, her senior high school performance won her the Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year Award.
Bekka Allick Parents: Colleen Ziegelbein and Melvin Allick
Bekka Allick was born on January 26, 2004, in Texas, United States, to Colleen Ziegelbein and Melvin Allick. Her parents had six children, including Bekka. Colleen and Melvin divorced when Bekka was quite young, and she moved to live with her stepfather in Lincoln, Nebraska. Melvin, Bekka’s biological father, was born and reared in Texas, where he graduated from James Madison High School. He went on to study General Studies at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, where he was also a swimmer.
Later, he enrolled in numerous universities, gaining degrees in a variety of fields, including vocational education from Wayland Baptist University and a Master’s in Public Affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs in Texas. He presently resides in Texas and has been employed for about three years as a Trooper Training Academic Lieutenant. Colleen Ziegelbein, her mother, is originally from College Springs, Iowa. She went on to Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville after high school, where she earned a degree in psychology. Colleen has been a special education teacher since 2013. She now lives in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Bekka’s Stepfather Bill Passed Away in 2013
Colleen Allick, Bekka Allick’s mother, married Bill Ziegelbein of Lincoln in 2013 after divorcing her former husband, Melvin, in 2011. Unfortunately, he perished in a motorbike accident only two years later. According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Bill and Colleen were involved in an accident while riding near White River, South Dakota, during the Sturgis motorcycle festival. According to the same source, the pair was involved in an accident when Bill lost control of the car, drove off the road, and collided with a roadside post. To make matters worse, neither of the pair was wearing a helmet.
Colleen received life-threatening injuries while Bill died on the scene. Thankfully, she survived, and she is now responsible for eight children, six of her own and two from Bill’s previous relationship. Bill Ziegelbein, originally from Polk, was a former collegiate football player. From 1987 to 1991, he appeared in 24 games for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Bill was just 44 years old when he died.
