Aries Spears was born in Chicago, the state capital of Illinois, but his family made the decision to relocate to New York City a year after his birth. His mother, jazz singer Doris Spears, carries the musical gene for the family. When she was eleven years old, Aries Spears made the decision to relocate to New Jersey, where she enrolled at the Arthur M. Judd Elementary School.
Three years later, at the age of 14, he discovered his comedic prowess and began performing stand-up and comedy sketches. Even at New York City’s many comedy clubs, he gave stand-up comedy performances. Even so, things weren’t perfect for the young Aries Spears. He was expelled from North Brunswick Township High School during his sophomore year for getting into a brawl.
He was seventeen years old at the time. Soon after, Spears made the decision to practice his humor and gave a hometown performance of his own created routine. According to Spears, his initial stand-up performances were largely presented at the Harlem-based Uptown Comedy Club. He recalled doing James Brown and Jack Nicholson impersonations at the time.
