Andy Chaves Passed Away At The Age Of 32 In A Car Accident

Andy Chaves, the vocalist of the Arizona-based pop-rock band Katastro, has died. On Thursday, the 32-year-old was apparently engaged in a vehicle collision with two other people. The heinous accident occurred on the Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach, California.

According to ABC News 7, the catastrophic accident killed Andy Chaves, Crystal M. McCallum, and Wayne Walter Swanson, all of whom were 34 and 40 years old, respectively. On May 12, they allegedly collided with construction equipment while driving in their automobile. According to the Newport Beach Police Department, their car was traveling west on the Pacific Coast Highway at 12.45 a.m. According to reports, the vehicle:

“struck a curb and then collided with construction equipment, killing three people.”

Along with the killings, three construction workers were injured but not killed. According to police, the individuals involved were immediately transferred to a hospital for treatment. Following the collision, the PCH was:

“blocked in both ways eastbound and westbound from Superior Avenue to Riverside Avenue.”

Katastro went to Instagram to reveal the renowned singer’s demise. Ryan Weddle, Tanner Riccio, and Andrew Stravers of the band wrote in the post:

“We are heartbroken to have to announce the death of our brother and singer Andy Chaves.” Please respect Andy’s family’s and the band’s privacy as we all begin to digest this. Thank you for all of your love and support.”

The sad news devastated the hearts of the band’s fans. Many others flocked to social media to pay their respects to the late pop-rock singer.
