Amy Schumer recently got into trouble after making a joke about Alec Baldwin’s Rust movie shooting incident. The comedian appeared at Las Vegas’ Mirage Theater on April 2 to deliver her first stand-up comedy gig since the Oscars in 2022. During the performance, Schumer spoke about a sequence of jokes she was barred from telling at the 94th Academy Awards. One such joke was on Alec Baldwin’s tragic shooting on the set of Rust, which killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza.
Despite the fact that Schumer’s comedy concert was meant to be phone-free and that fans were requested not to film the performance, the shotgun joke found its way into social media and generated outrage.
A look at Amy Schumer’s contentious Alec Baldwin joke.
Amy Schumer’s April 2 Las Vegas comedy set began with a discussion about Will Smith and Chris Rock’s historic slapping incident at the 2022 Oscars. According to the comedian:
“I’m at a loss for words when it comes to the Oscars.” I honestly don’t know what to say. I’m not going to make any jokes about it. All I can say is that, whether you witnessed it or not, Will Smith smacked Chris Rock. “Did you happen to see it on your newsfeed?”
The Life & Beth actress then referred to Smith as Muhammad Ali (a reference to his part in the 2001 biopic) and said that his assault on Chris Rock after the latter made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved head was an example of “toxic masculinity”:
“I was kind of feeling myself… Ali seemed to be climbing the stairs all of a sudden. And that was a f***ing letdown. All I can say is that it was really sad, and I believe it reveals a lot about toxic masculinity.”
Schumer then said that the greatest way to derive “relief” from the Oscars debacle would be to share the jokes she was not permitted to do on stage during the Oscars:
“It was quite distressing, but I believe the best way to console us would be for me to tell the Oscar jokes that I wasn’t permitted to do on TV.”
Before telling the gags, the comic cautioned the audience not to be disappointed and begged them not to share the material with others:
“I’d like to preface these Oscar jokes by noting that my lawyer advised me not to make them.” Don’t tell anybody, and don’t be angry with me.”
Schumer delivered a joke on Alec Baldwin’s shooting incident in Rust:
“‘Don’t Look Up’ is the title of a film?” Don’t gaze down the barrel of Alec Baldwin’s shotgun, more like. I couldn’t say any of that [at the Oscars], but you can simply walk up and [slap] someone.”
Alec Baldwin was purportedly practicing a shooting action on the set of his new film, Rust, on October 21, 2021, when he inadvertently shot and murdered cinematographer Halyna Hutchins after misfiring an alleged toy pistol. Schumer also said that Joe Rogan and James Franco were among the Oscars gags she was barred from telling, along with Alec Baldwin.
Twitter responds to Amy Schumer’s joke about the shooting of Alec Baldwin.
Amy Schumer delivered a forbidden Oscars joke on Alec Baldwin’s Rust movie shooting incident at her recent comedy gig in Las Vegas in the aftermath of the 94th Academy Awards. Shortly after her joke went viral, some individuals turned to Twitter to blast Schumer for making light of the situation that resulted in the terrible death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins:
Amy Schumer: “Will slapping Chris traumatized me”
Also Amy Schumer: “Don’t Look Up’ is the name of a movie? More like don’t look down the barrel of Alec Baldwin’s shotgun”
🤔 Yikes

Amy Schumer getting “traumatised” by a slap but wanted to make a joke about Alex Baldwin accidentally killing someone perfectly captures the vulgarity of the upper class.

The current incident comes after Schumer was chastised for referring to Kirsten Dunst as a “seat filler” at the 2022 Oscars. She subsequently explained, however, that the joke was “choreographed.”
