Allen Lazard’s parents are both teachers, and he has gained a lot from them in both academics and athletics.
His father is a financial advisor and former high school coach, while his mother is a teacher. Allen Jamel Lazard was born in Des Moines, Iowa on December 11, 1995. He is a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for the New York Jets.
Lazard attended Urbandale High School and was a four-year starter on both offense and defense. Lazard participated in the 2014 US Army All-American Bowl before enrolling at Iowa State. Coming out of high school, the Iowa native was a highly touted prospect. Rivals ranked him as Iowa’s top recruit and the country’s seventh-best receiver. He attended Iowa State and was selected First-Team All-Big 12 in 2016 and 2017. He also holds the record for most receptions and receiving yards at Iowa State. In 2018, he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars but was subsequently released. The wide receiver subsequently played four seasons (2018-2022) with the Green Bay Packers before joining the New York Jets.
Allen Lazard’s Parents: Kevin and Mary Lazard
Allen Lazard was born into the Lazard family, the son of Kevin and Mary Lazard. On September 22, 1996, the player’s father and mother married. When the couple married, their two children had already been born. Allen followed in his father’s footsteps since Kevin Lazard was a well-known football player at the time. Kevin Lazard attended Bellflower High School from 1985 to 1989 and graduated in 1989.
From 1989 to 1994, he attended Iowa State University and earned a BA in MIS (Management of Information). He played college football there from 1989 to 1993. Kevin later earned his MBA in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix between 2006 and 2009. He is now employed at Primerica as a personal financial representative. He formerly worked as a system analyst II at Iowa State University beginning in April 2013. Kevin also worked as a development analyst at Xpanxion for a short time.
Before joining Primerica and Iowa State University, he worked as a system analyst for Principal Financial Group from June 2006 until January 2013. From July 2008 until February 2012, he used his athletic abilities as a varsity assistant coach at Urbandale High School.

From 1988 to 1992, Mary Lazard earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) in elementary education. She has been teaching at West Marshall CSD since August 2016. She formerly worked as a teacher at Des Moines Public Schools from August 2013 until July 2016. From 2007 until 2013, Mary worked as a Production Assimilation Coordinator at the Lutheran Church of Hope. From 2005 until 2007, she worked as the facilities manager and class planner at SportsPlex West.
She served as a site supervisor for Youth & Shelter Services from August 2003 until August 2005. She worked as a site coordinator at Marshalltown Community Schools from August 2000 until August 2003.
Meet Allen Lazard Brother Anthony Lazard
Anthony, Allen’s brother, was born on May 3, 1994, and is also a former football player. The two brothers are around a year apart in age. Anthony received his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Health from the University of Iowa in 2016. Since January 2023, he has served as the Applied Sport Science Coordinator and Assistant Director for Football Sports Performance at Stanford University.
Anthony served as a Strength and Conditioning Intern at Iowa State University Athletics Department in 2016 and then at Colorado State University in 2017. In 2018, he started working as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at Central Methodist College in Missouri.
