After more than 25 years together, David Hyde Pierce and his spouse, Brian Hargrove, married on October 24, 2008. Pierce previously discussed his marriage to his long-term companion on The View in May 2009. The Frasier actor married Hargrove in a secret ceremony just days before Proposition 8 became law in California, outlawing same-sex marriage.
Pierce and his spouse were put in a difficult situation as a result of this.
He said:
“Brian and I were always low-key. We didn’t keep our lives hidden. “We were married privately last October 24 and believed it was alright,”
“All of a sudden, the state of California declared, ‘No, it isn’t.'” What we assumed was a private, personal choice turned out to be everything but.”
Pierce and his partner subsequently discovered that their marriage was legitimate since it took place during the short time when same-sex weddings were permitted. Despite this, Pierce spoke up about how aggravating and infuriating the situation had been. Because of the aforementioned experience, he said that he had been involved in gay-rights marches. “I’ve been attending because I’ve had the experience of having this private matter suddenly pulled out into the open, and people I don’t know vote,” he said.

Pierce achieved a lot of fame as an actor after portraying Dr. Niles Crane on Frasier from 1993 until 2004. But with success came public scrutiny, and the actor has been candid about his dissatisfaction with celebrity. “It’s not something I’ve ever been interested in or sought out,” he said to Vulture. Pierce maintained a quiet profile during his career. As a result, there were many rumors and guesses about his sexuality.
It wasn’t until 2007 that the actor revealed he was homosexual. His friends and family, on the other hand, have known him for a long time. Pierce said that he never discussed his sexual orientation with his family. He also described how his parents found out about it. “I brought the person I was in love with the home.” And they met him, adored him, and accepted him, and he became an immediate part of the family.” Pierce met his spouse for the first time in 1982. Pierce and Hargrove were both actors at the time, and they had the same agency.
Because homosexual people were not widely recognized at the time, his boyfriend, Hargrove, had a phony girlfriend. As a result, Pierce first assumed Hargrove was gay. However, as they spent more time together, Pierce discovered that his spouse, Hargrove, was homosexual, and the two finally married. Pierce and his partner have collaborated not just in their personal lives, but also in their professional lives, since that time. Pierce previously directed It Shoulda Been You, a musical comedy written and sung by his spouse.
