Alicia Keys and Brandi Carlile have shared a real kinship with one another. Carlile discussed her relationship with Keys on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on April 1 and said:
“I was telling everyone earlier that we’ve just been getting to know each other for a few years, but we’ve grown to kind of become sisters.”
Alicia responded with:
“With you, Brandi, I feel like I’ve found someone who is really a sister. I can phone you and say ‘Hey,’ and you can call me and say ‘Hey,’ and we’ll both show there. It’s a pretty unusual occurrence, therefore I treasure it.”
Alicia and Brandi also discussed their Grammy-nominated duet, A Beautiful Noise, which will be published in 2020. The song has been nominated for “Song of the Year” at the Grammy Awards, which will take place on April 3, 2022. On the afternoon chat program, the vocalists even played an acoustic version of the song.
Carlile added that Keys had influenced her children, giving her a home video of her daughters Evangeline and Elijah performing the 2012 song Girl on Fire. Carlile later expressed gratitude to Keys for the song’s uplifting tone, saying,
“I simply wanted to show you because I wanted to tell you how pleasant it is to hear words like those coming out of the lips of my children.” It means a lot to me, and thank you for sending such an encouraging letter.”
