Alexis DeJoria began her NHRA career in the Super Gas category in 2005. It was prior to transitioning into a Super Comp dragster. After her 8-month NHRA debut, she went on to win the Sportsman Nationals in Fontana, California. She spent two years on the West Coast in a Top Alcohol Funny Car (TA/FC). Stealth Motorsports, her own racing team, was formed in 2009.

Similarly, at the 2011 NHRA Northwest Fall Nationals, she won her first NHRA national event. As a result, she became only the second woman in history to do so. Moving on, she co-owned and operated the team for three years before leaving in 2011. She later joins Kalitta Motorsports as their fourth member and second funny car driver.

This change coincided with her transition to racing a nitro (Fuel) funny car at the 2011 Texas Fall Nationals. Similarly, in 2012, she raced in her first final-round appearance at Bristol. At Reading, she set the record with a run of 4.032 seconds and a speed of 319.07 mph (513.49 km/h).
