Alexander AJ Jennings, the Outer Banks stand-in for actor Chase Stokes, was killed in a hit-and-run collision near New Charleston, South Carolina. Since then, the cast and staff of the show have flocked to social media to pay respect to the actor. Jennings was 22 at the time of his death. According to a news release issued by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Department, officers responded to the Sol Legare Road collision on Tuesday at about 2:30 a.m. ET. According to sources, Alexander AJ Jennings was walking when he was hit by a car that left the area. Another car, which also fled the scene, struck the pedestrian a second time.
According to People magazine, Jennings was rushed to the Medical University of South Carolina hospital, where he unfortunately died. Chase Stokes turned to Instagram to share his grief at the awful loss. He wrote on his Instagram story:
“I’m still trying to figure out why certain things happen and why the universe operates the way it does.” My heart is broken. Your life was just getting started. We JUST discussed how excited you were about your songs, how far you’d gone with that ol’ 6 string, and your desire to keep making art. Always warming the hearts of people and being so darn unselfish I wish I had more things to say right now, but the last day has been difficult to put it mildly. We all loved you because you affected all of our lives and made us all better people. Thank you, AJ. Angel, fly high.”
Who Was Alexander AJ Jennings?
Upstate New York native Alexander AJ Jennings In Outer Banks, he was a stand-in for Chase Stokes. When the catastrophe happened, the body duplicate was not videotaped. He was last spotted in Charleston, South Carolina, where the third season of Outer Banks was being filmed for Netflix. Little is known about him since he keeps his personal life hidden from the cameras. Following his passing late Tuesday, Kimmie Stewart Casting published a statement on Instagram. It said:
“AJ was a gorgeous, compassionate person and a bright light on set every day… I can’t imagine the shock and horror of AJ’s untimely death, and our hearts go out to his family and friends at this tough time. I appreciate that for those of you who met and became good friends with AJ, this letter may be tough to digest.”
She also said that Netflix’s human resources department had recruited a bereavement counselor. She went on:
“I’m still at a loss for words as to how this occurred, and I can’t image the sorrow his family is through.” We shall sadly miss this great human being and his contagious grin.”
The initial car that collided with Jennings has yet to be found since no description of the vehicle was provided. The second car was found in downtown Charleston. The drivers of the vehicles have not been charged. The matter is still being investigated.
