Career
Alex Berenson began his career as a business reporter for The Denver Post in June 1994. He was there for two years before leaving to join TheStreet, a financial news website founded by Jim Cramer, in August 1996. He authored The Number: How America’s Balance Sheet Lies Rocked the World’s Financial Markets. (2014).
Berenson went on to work as a business investigative reporter for The New York Times in December 1999. Berenson covered the occupation of Iraq for the New York Times in the fall of 2003 and the summer of 2004.
Berenson also covered the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, focusing on the problems associated with dangerous drugs. He was also involved in the reporting on the $50 billion Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme scandal, which began in December 2008.
In 2010, Berenson left the Times to become a full-time novelist. He is currently residing in Garrison, New York.
