Page was not born into an athletic family and did not wrestle from an early age. Hangman made his ROH debut on January 14, 2011, at ROH Champions vs. All-Stars, after making his professional debut in 2008 on an indie circuit in his hometown. He and Jason Blade won their first professional wrestling title that year, the CWF Mid-Atlantic Tag Team Championship, in the same year.
The following year, Stephen won the CWF Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Championship. He stayed in the league until the end of his career, winning numerous championships for regional promotions throughout the country. Page was defeated by Matt Hardy in the Ring of Honor’s Final Battle 2013. Woltz’s circuit career was not without its highs and lows.
From 2016 to 2019, Hangman was a member of New Japan Pro-Wrestling. Page also taught full-time high school journalism and graphic design for five years while wrestling. He ceased teaching after relocating to Japan for the events. Hangman joined Pro Wrestling Guerilla on the first night of All-Star Weekend in April 2018.
