Abraham is an American singer, songwriter, musician, and film producer. He is the late singer and composer Selena’s father. He is a native Texan who was born into a devout household. On February 20, 1939, he was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, USA. He is one of his parents’ six children. His father, Abraham Gonzalez Quintanilla, Sr., and his mother, Maria Tereza Calderon, gave birth to him.
His parents were a vegetable, fruit, and cotton gleaners. He attended Roy Miller High School but left out before graduating to pursue a career in the music business. Later that year, in 1957, he joined a musical ensemble formed by alumnus classmates. The band’s name was Los Dinos, and he eventually quit the band to raise his family. When he found his six-year-old daughter Selena’s potential, he began teaching her, along with his son Abraham III, to play bass and his next daughter, Suzette, to play drums.
They then founded the band Selena y Los Dinos. They were able to release six albums from the facility. The family began their musical adventure together. Following Selena’s death in 1955, he served as executive producer on a film about her life.

Selena’s murder
On March 31, 1995, Yolanda Saldivar killed her. Yolanda was her buddy, as well as the manager of her stores and the head of her fan club. In Corpus Christi, Texas, she was slain by a bullet. Prior to the murder, the two of them were meeting in a hotel room to discuss Saldivar’s suspicion of embezzling money. According to court documents, Saldivar murdered her by mistake, for which she was sentenced to life in prison for the rest of her life.
