Marcela’s Disappearance

According to Distractify, the Latin-American artist had an extremely close relationship with his mother. It seems that she was the one who gave him the moniker El Sol de México. Miguel’s mother vanished from his life 34 years ago, and no one has heard from her since. The singer last saw his mother in 1985, during a performance at Argentina’s Luna Park.

There are several ideas as to what happened to Marcela Basteri. Marcela fled away with her Italian boyfriend, according to her husband, Luis Gallego Sánchez, commonly known as Luis Rey, who last saw her. The second and most prevalent belief is that Rey murdered his wife for money, which Andrés Garca confirmed. During an appearance on Venga la Alegra, a Mexican entertainment show, Garcia said that in 1986, Rey urged him to assist in the elimination of Marcela so that he could have total access to his son’s wealth.

According to some sources, Rey registered various firms he founded with Miguel’s money under Marcela’s name in order to conceal his involvement in a number of criminal ventures. If anything happened to his wife, all of this money would be his. Garcia also stated that the scheming husband killed his wife in a pool, according to Rey’s sister-in-law. These accusations and allegations, however, have yet to be substantiated.

Death of Luis Rey

There are several stories concerning Marcela’s disappearance, but the death of Miguel’s father, Luis Rey, is equally contentious since no one knows the actual cause of death. Rey died on December 9, 1992, in Barcelona, after succumbing to pneumonia. However, others claim that the singer was afflicted with a separate ailment.

According to Javier León’s biography of Miguel, his father had a life filled with drugs and alcohol, as well as sexual relationships with several women. His way of living harmed his health, and when he was admitted to the hospital, he was diagnosed with AIDS. However, another account claims that Rey died of an overdose rather than AIDS. In an interview with Ventaneando, his brother, Mario Vicente Gallego, disclosed this version. (via Milenio) We’re left to speculate on what happened to Miguel’s parents.
