Wink Martindale, a former New York Giants defensive coordinator, and his wife, Laura, have two children.
When it comes to his personal life, he keeps a low profile, yet he freely displays and does not disguise his strong care and devotion for his wife and children. Don “Wink” Martindale is best known as a National Football League (NFL) defensive coordinator. Martindale has handled a variety of coaching jobs at both the college and professional levels during his career.
He received a lot of recognition for his efforts as the Baltimore Ravens’ defensive coordinator. The Ravens’ defense evolved into one of the most powerful forces in the league, winning Super Bowl XLVII. Martindale has coaching stints with six different NFL clubs before to joining the Ravens. He also spent experience coaching at the college level.
Former Giants DC Wink Martindale, His Wife Laura, and Their Two Children
Wink Martindale, the experienced defensive coordinator, is happily married to his wife, Laura Martindale. They are the parents of two children: Cassie, their daughter, and Ty, their boy. Martindale takes satisfaction in his job as a grandpa to a wonderful granddaughter called Gigi, expanding their family circle. Notably, Cassie, who worked as an intern in the Baltimore Ravens’ marketing department in 2013, and her husband, Randy, just welcomed their baby daughter, Gigi.
Despite Martindale’s inclination to keep his personal life private, an amusing moment developed when he made a lighthearted analogy between his relationship with his wife and speculations about probable disputes with head coach Brian Daboll. When questioned by a reporter about any potential problems with Daboll, Martindale joked, “I don’t always see eye-to-eye with my wife.” In a more somber tone, the Ohio-born coach highlighted his professional dedication, saying,
“He’s the head coach, and it’s my job to carry out his vision.” That’s exactly what I’m going to do.”
Resigns as Defensive Coordinator for the Giants
The New York Giants are looking for a new defensive coordinator as they prepare to split ways with current defensive coordinator Don “Wink” Martindale in 2024. According to many reports, Martindale has resigned as the Giants’ defensive coordinator. Martindale first joined the Giants’ coaching staff in 2022, after serving as the Baltimore Ravens’ defensive coordinator for four years.
His hiring was made possible by head coach Brian Daboll. Interestingly, Daboll publicly said earlier that day that he expected Martindale to remain as defensive coordinator for the 2018 season. However, conditions quickly shifted, allowing the Giants to rethink their defensive plans. Following a disappointing second season under Daboll’s guidance, the Giants’ coaching staff is set to undergo significant changes. The team’s immediate goal will be to find and hire a new defensive coordinator who shares Daboll’s vision and ambitions for the following seasons.
