Kyle Jacobs, Kellie Pickler’s husband and fellow musician, died on Friday, February 17, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The event occurred at around 1:21 p.m., and officers were promptly sent to Pickler’s apartment. Kyle and Kellie had been married for a long time and had no children. The circumstances surrounding Jacobs’ suicide remain unknown, however, Kellie stated to police that her husband had been absent since she awoke. Pickler’s aide summoned the police officers for assistance when the upstairs bedroom door refused to open.
Henry Rothenberg of News Channel 5 paid homage to Jacobs on Facebook by uploading a video and wrote,
“Your companionship, your talent for bringing people together through music…you will be missed, Kyle Jacobs.”
Kyle’s most recent Instagram post contained a photo of Lee Brice’s album Hello World, and the post stated that the record had been certified platinum. Jacobs acknowledged his delight at the news, stating that he was a part of the record and felt privileged to have been a part of it.
Kellie Pickler and Kyle Jacobs’ relationship
Kellie Pickler and Kyle Jacobs originally met in 2008 via a mutual acquaintance. After Jacobs proposed to Pickler in 2010, the couple became engaged, and they married in 2011. Pickler subsequently commented about the proposal on Instagram in 2017, revealing that it took place on June 15, 2010, which also happened to be her grandmother’s birthday. She said,
“Kyle and I were in Rosemary Beach, [Florida], on what he said was a ‘vacation’ on that day in 2010. After a romantic supper, we went for a sunset walk on the beach… I had no idea he had covertly buried a tiny wooden box on the sand.”
A notebook written by Jacobs was also included in the box, as was a seashell with Kellie’s grandmother’s name inscribed on it, as well as an engagement ring. Pickler subsequently talked with Us Weekly about her ambitions to extend her family. At the time, she said,
“We have two little pups. For the time being, we are dog parents.”

Kyle Jacobs rose to prominence as a composer for Curb Records, where he remained until his death. Trace Adkins, Tim McGraw, Clay Walker, Scott McCreery, and others have recorded songs written by the Bloomington, Minnesota native. Jacobs was best recognized as the co-writer of Garth Brooks’ hit More Than a Memory. The record debuted at the top of the Billboard charts in August 2007. Jacobs has worked with several well-known musicians, including Darius Rucker, Wynonna Judd, and others. He was 49 years old when he died.
