Kidd performed a motorcycle jump across an 80-foot gap in a disused viaduct across the Blackwater River in Essex as stunt biker, Dave Munday, in the 1981 film Riding High. Eddie Kidd: Accident

Kidd was in a serious motorcycle accident on August 6, 1996, while performing at the Bulldog Bash, which was held at Long Marston Airfield near Stratford-upon-Avon. In comparison to some of his previous stunts, Kidd’s jump that day was relatively minor, consisting of a 15-meter (49-foot) jump across a drag strip.

Beyond the drag strip, the relatively short landing area consisted of an uphill incline leading to the edge of a steep embankment. Despite the fact that Kidd completed the jump and landed the bike upright on two wheels, his chin collided with the petrol tank of his motorcycle, knocking him unconscious.

As a result, he and his bike were unable to stop themselves from continuing up and over the 6 m (20 ft) embankment edge. In the ensuing fall, he suffered serious head and pelvic injuries. Doctors told Kidd’s parents that he could be in a coma for up to ten years after the accident. He did, however, regain consciousness three months after the accident, but he was left paralyzed and with brain damage.

Eddie Kidd: Wife

Kidd was previously married to dancer and actress Debbie Ash, the sister of actress Leslie Ash; they divorced after having one child. He married Sarah Carr, a waitress at Stringfellow’s, and the couple had one child before divorcing.

Kidd met model Samantha Kirli again in 2004 after a brief relationship with her 23 years before, and they married in 2007 but divorced in December 2012. Kirli was convicted of assaulting Kidd in August 2013. According to the evidence presented in court, she attempted to choke Kidd, slapped him on the face and chest, and kicked him.
