While nothing is known about his playing career, Jerome started his coaching career in 1993. He coached basketball at Heritage Christian Academy for eleven years. Later, he joined Baylor University as an assistant coach under Scott Drew. He worked his way up the ranks, eventually becoming assistant head coach in 2017. Tang was instrumental in Baylor’s pursuit of the national title in 2021. Tang was named the Kansas State Wildcats’ next head coach on March 21, 2022, following Bruce Weber, who had retired.

Jerome’s son, Ayvin Seven Tang, is presently attending Baylor University in Texas. He was born on January 11, 2001, in Cleveland, Texas.
He graduated from Live Oak Classical School in 2020, and he was a cheerleader while there. Similarly, his sister, Aylyn (pronounced Island), graduated from high school in 2022.
