Major Applewhite, South Alabama’s head coach, has been happily married to his wife, Julie Applewhite, for 19 years. Julie has been Major’s constant support system during their journey together. The couple is also blessed with two children, creating a loving family. Major Applewhite reached a big professional milestone on January 18th, when he was chosen as the fourth head coach of South Alabama Football.
Joel Erdmann, the Director of Athletics, announced Applewhite’s appointment for January 2024. Before he was appointed head coach, Applewhite was the South Alabama Jaguars’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Major Lee Applewhite, born on July 26, 1978, was a standout college football quarterback for the Texas Longhorns. After retiring from playing, Applewhite moved into coaching, where he continued to succeed. Notably, he was the head coach at the University of Houston from 2017 to 2018, guiding the team to numerous outstanding wins.
Meet Julie Applewhite, Major Applewhite’s Wife
The head coach, Major Applewhite, married his wife, Julie Applewhite, on July 15, 2005. Major Applewhite’s wife Julie was born in San Antonio, Texas, and attended Robert E. Lee High School. She went on to get a Psychology degree from the University of Texas. Julie is not only a mother and wife, but also a career-oriented lady. She has worked as a Realtor at LLB&B, Inc. Real Estate since July 2021.
Julie formerly worked as the Client Relations Manager at Fulbright & Jaworski LLP. She also worked as a professional development manager at Fulbright & Jaworski LLP from 2006 to 2007. Julie obtained real estate experience after leaving Fulbright by working as a realtor for H.A. Edwards, Inc. in Tuscaloosa for a year. Julie, a working lady, is also a supportive wife. She has been an encouraging influence on Major Applewhite’s coaching career.
The Couple Had Two Kids Together
The Applewhites have been happily married for nineteen years and have two beautiful children. Their family presently resides in Mobile, Alabama. After marrying in 2005, they welcomed the birth of their first child, Lila, in March 2009. Lila is presently 14 years old. In April 2016, the couple had their second child, a baby boy called Nash Applewhite. Julie just uploaded a photo of her family in response to Major’s recent appointment as South Alabama’s head coach. They attended the occasion to celebrate their father and husband’s important accomplishments.
Did Major Applewhite Cheat on His Wife?
During the 2009 Fiesta Bowl, Major Applewhite, a former assistant coach at the University of Texas, had a consensual relationship with an adult student. Although the event happened in 2009, it was not made public until 2013, when the University of Texas announced a different incident involving students.
At the time of the event, Applewhite’s wife was expecting their first child. After being questioned about the event, Applewhite made a statement accepting full responsibility for his conduct and stating that he would not engage in similar behavior in the future.
