Boogie Ellis was born in San Diego, California to parents Rejean Tremaine Ellis and Rowiena Simpson.
His parents have continuously shown their unwavering support for his basketball career, attending every game and actively urging him to succeed. Boogie Ellis attended Mission Bay High School for all four years of his high school studies. Ellis, a four-star prospect, picked Duke University for his collegiate basketball career but then moved his commitment to Memphis. He moved to the University of Southern California (USC) after appearing in 59 games for Memphis. Ellis was named Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 during his junior year at USC. As of this writing, he has started every game during his three-year stay at USC.

Boogie Ellis was born on December 12, 2000, into a family of different origins, including his parents, Rejean Tremaine Ellis and Rowiena Simpson (she has mixed Black and Filipino ancestry). Ellis was raised with four siblings as a child. His grandmother, Corazon Simpson, is from Caloocan, hence he has deep family links to the Philippines.
Ellis has yet to visit the Philippines, even though his mother, Rowiena, went regularly as a child. Nonetheless, he stated a strong desire to play for the Philippine national team if given the chance. Boogie Ellis expressed his emotions regarding the life-changing adventure after transferring to the University of Southern California, emphasizing that joining USC allowed his family to be there at every game. He also emphasized his excitement about going home, being surrounded by relatives, and playing against players he had known and played against since high school.
Victory against Stanford
The USC men’s basketball team defeated Stanford 93-79 in a spectacular effort at the Galen Center on Saturday, with Isaiah Collier, Boogie Ellis, and Kobe Johnson all scoring 20 points or more. Isaiah Collier led all scorers with 26 points, hitting 9 of 15 shots while grabbing four rebounds and dishing out three assists. Boogie Ellis demonstrated his ability from beyond the arc, scoring 22 points and making 6 of 8 3-point tries.
In addition, Ellis had five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Kobe Johnson completed the three with 21 points and an all-around effort that included five assists, five rebounds, and five steals. Notably, the Trojans outperformed themselves in 3-point shooting, hitting on 56% of their tries and ending 14-of-25 from beyond the arc. This was USC’s third straight game with more than ten successful 3-point attempts.
