Dave and Lisa Roigard are Cam Roigard’s parents. Cam is a New Zealand rugby union player who plays for the Hurricanes in the Super Rugby league. Roigard, who was born in New Zealand, is predominantly a scrum half on the field. During the 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa season, he was added to the Hurricanes roster at the last minute for Round 7, as confirmed by club management. Cam Roigard, a former speedway driver who is currently being evaluated for the All Blacks rugby squad, made a huge improvement in early April.
When the Hurricanes take against the Western Force at Palmerston North’s Central Energy Trust Arena on Sunday, Roigard’s interests will collide. Interestingly, it is the only circuit on the North Island where Roigard has never raced in his former career as a saloon driver. Despite his few appearances for the Hurricanes the previous season, All Blacks selectors were impressed by Roigard’s great potential.
Who Are Cam Roigard’s Parents, Dave, And Lisa?
Cam Roigard’s parents are Dave and Lisa Roigard. Cam hails from a family of Speedway drivers, and he himself is a former Speedway driver. Dave Roigard, his father, was a former Waikato champion with three decades of racing experience. Dave started as a crewman for former New Zealand champion Geoff Fletcher. He had the option to go from being a member of the crew to being a driver over time. He raced in super stocks for around five years prior to the news item before switching to the saloon class owing to age-related reasons.
Given Dave’s engagement in Speedway, it was only natural for his boys to do the same. Stefan and Cam both began their racing careers in small stocks, with Stefan ultimately moving up to the saloon division when he became eligible. With Dave out, Stefan was able to complete the season in his father’s vehicle, enabling Cam to move up to the saloon class in his brother’s car. Cam entered the world of rugby in 2021. He said that his objective has always been to play full-time rugby with the Hurricanes.
Despite being actively engaged in speedway racing and aiding his brother as a crew member, he decided to withdraw from the sport. The inherent hazards of injury in Speedway, as well as the financial demands of racing, made a professional career in that discipline untenable for him. While he was still racing, rugby was his major focus and desire for a long-term career.
Cam Roigard Siblings and Family
Stefan Roigard is Cam’s brother. Dave, Lisa, and their two boys, who have been involved in Speedway for many years, make up the family. Cam, who comes from a racing family, started racing at the age of ten, participating in mini stocks at Huntly International Speedway. He eventually moved on to saloon racing, where he finished second in the New Zealand championships. While juggling his engagement in rugby and speedway, Roigard’s career was altered when he was offered a contract with the Hurricanes in 2021.
He was given this opportunity as an injured substitute for Jamie Booth, who had a leg injury. He had planned to join the Hurricanes for preseason training only, but he ended up staying for the full season. His effort and performance earned him a full-time deal for 2022, and he has thrived in his rugby career since then.
