Her parents did not marry.
Scottie and Susan Roby, her parents, were in a relationship but never married. In an interview, her father denied having a connection with her mother and said that he made a huge mistake that he couldn’t repair, so he had to go on. He first refused to accept her and her twin sister and even disputed a paternity test, but he was forced to confess it when a DNA test confirmed he was their father.
Soon after the birth, he began dating and later married Yvette De Leon. Sierra, their daughter, was born. Taylor is a year younger than Sierra. After her father refused to accept responsibility for her, a protracted legal fight ensued. According to the Associated Press, her father has been ordered to pay her mother $10,000 in medical bills.
