Shamet averaged 11.4 points and 3.3 assists per game as a redshirt freshman. He was voted MVC Freshman of the Year and MVC First Team All-Conference. Shamet had foot surgery after the season to treat a stress fracture. The Philadelphia 76ers selected Shamet with the 26th choice in the 2018 NBA draft.
