Playboi Carti, a well-known rapper, was recently arrested on suspicion of choking his girlfriend after a quarrel over a paternity test. Carti’s partner was 14 weeks pregnant at the time of the incident, according to reports. The rapper is facing felony aggravated assault charges.
According to the Daily Mail, the event occurred in December 2022. Carti reportedly grabbed his partner by the neck, causing her to struggle to breathe. He also shoved her. The woman’s name has not yet been released, but according to the arrest affidavit obtained by TMZ, she felt like she was going to die. Carti and the lady have been dating for around two years and have been living together since July of last year.
According to Playboi Carti’s attorney, the rapper’s accusations will be dropped.
A witness, according to Carti’s pregnant girlfriend, tried to break up the fight. Carti tackled her again as she ran towards her car, attempting to prevent her from entering. When she attempted to phone 911 using the car’s SOS button, the rapper allegedly slapped his palm over her lips. When the police came, they discovered that the lady had injuries to her neck, chest, and back. However, Playboi Carti’s attorney, Brian Steel, has said that all of the charges leveled against his client are untrue and that the case would be “dismissed without any prosecution or litigation.”
The rapper has previously been arrested.
In April 2020, Playboi Carti was arrested in Clayton County on gun and drug allegations. He was stopped by authorities because his Lamborghini had an expired tag. Officers discovered a couple packages of marijuana, firearms, Xanax, codeine, and pills after checking his vehicle. Carti and another person named Jaylan Tucker were arrested and placed in the Clayton County prison.
According to court documents, Carti was charged with marijuana possession, inappropriately passing an emergency vehicle, and not having a current license plate sticker. The rapper was eventually freed on bail, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
