Kate joined the New Jersey-New York Track Club after graduation to train under famed coach Frank “Gags” Gagliano. Later, in 2012, the athlete joined Oiselle, a running clothing sponsor. Oiselle signed her as the first runner. She then participated in the 800 and 1,500 meters at the 2012 Olympics Trails but did not make the finals. Grace finished 20th with a timing of 4:12:92.
She proceeded to improve her track times and won the 2013 USA road mile championship, her first national title. Kate also won the Grand Blue Mile at the 2013 USA 1 Mile Road Championship. Then, in the 2013 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, she finished fourth in the 800 meters.
