Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez was recently chastised by Tory Lanez’s father, Sonstar Peterson, for being a “snitch.” Lanez was found guilty this week in the shooting death of rapper Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. After viewing the trial, Peterson became enraged and ranted to the reporters outside the courtroom, accusing the judicial system of being unjust.
Lanez’s father was furious with prosecutors, police, Desiree Perez, and Jay-Z. Inside the courtroom, his parents were also yelling, calling the legal system horrible. They were then led outside, where they vented to the media. Megan Stallion joined Roc Nation’s management team in 2019. She was awarded full tuition and a four-year scholarship at Long Island University’s Roc Nation School of Music, Sports, and Entertainment in June 2021. This is why, according to Peterson, the label was behind Lanez’s conviction.
Peterson accused Jay-Z of plotting against Lanez because he refused to sign a contract with Roc Nation. He then lashed out at Perez, saying:
“And Desiree Perez, you snitch, you evil witch.”
Peterson was irritated that no tangible evidence was presented during the trial. Lanez was convicted on all three counts against him last Friday and now faces a sentence of more than 22 years. The Canadian rapper might be deported as well. Peterson blurted forth a crazy hypothesis about Desiree Perez and Jay-Z using backdoor routes to force Lanez’s conviction. He particularly mentioned Perez and the victim’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, and added:
“And the whole nasty Roc Nation system, including you, Jay-Z.”
Some of the witnesses called to testify against Tory Lanez, according to Peterson, collaborated with the prosecution.
Desiree Perez moved from working in a nightclub to becoming the CEO of Roc Nation.
Desiree Perez, in addition to being the CEO of the multiservice agency, is also a co-founder alongside Jay-Z. She served as the company’s Chief Operating Officer from 2009 to 2019, when she was appointed CEO. Perez began her career as a part-time manager at a New York nightclub in the mid-1990s, rising to her current leadership position with Roc Nation. She handled Roc Nation’s services and spearheaded new projects in music, management, new business development, publishing, charity, television programs, film production, and artist touring.

Juan Perez, Perez’s spouse, is the head of Roc Nation’s sports branch. Jay-Z and others have commended Desiree for her abilities to build and expand her network, thrive in financial affairs, and keep organized. She also has a solid reputation as an effective negotiator. Perez became CEO after focusing on promoting and strengthening gender equality and diversity. She also pushes for criminal justice reform.
Tory Lanez was convicted on all three counts.
Megan Thee Stallion’s long-running criminal case against Tory Lanez finished on December 23 with a jury verdict against the accused. Megan Thee Stallion alleged in 2020 that Lanez shot her in the foot after the two got into an argument while leaving Kylie Jenner’s pool party. Lanez was found guilty of transporting an unregistered firearm in a vehicle, shooting the weapon with with reckless abandon, and assault with a semiautomatic handgun. Lanez was accused of using a handgun to inflict serious bodily harm on the victim.
Megan claimed emotional difficulty when called to testify during the trial, considering that Lanez was sitting across the room. While attempting to keep her cool, the popular female rapper expressed concern about the different pressure techniques employed by the accused to silence her after the shooting.
The 27-year-old said that the incident had a negative impact on her mental health and harmed her career since industry influencers often sided with Lanez and provided sensitive coverage of his version of events. Those who wanted Lanez exonerated often questioned Megan’s integrity while attempting to slander her.
