In July 2010, he and chef Dominic Jack opened Castle Terrace, a restaurant near Edinburgh Castle. Chef Dominic Jack owns and operates the restaurant as a sister to The Kitchin, employing the same style and “nature to plate philosophy.” He was named Observer Food Monthly Cook of the Year in 2010. Kitchin and Jack opened The Scran & Scallie Gastro-pub in the city’s Stockbridge neighborhood in 2013. Southside Scran, Edinburgh’s fourth venue, opened in 2018. Despite its name, it is located in Bruntsfield, not the city’s southside. Kitchin’s first venture outside of Edinburgh, The Bonnie Badger, opened in Gullane, East Lothian, in 2018.
