Jen Shah of RHOSLC is in significant legal danger and might face a hefty jail term. Shah pled guilty to wire fraud on July 11, 2022, and her arrest was covered in the show’s second season. Shah rose to stardom in 2020 after appearing on RHOSLC. She will shortly appear in the third season of the program. Jen states in the teaser that she is innocent and was tricked by her helper Stuart Smith. Danna then tells Whitney that the informant in this instance was someone she knew who also worked with Jen. While Shah has yet to be sentenced, here are five facts concerning Jen Shah’s fraud case to remember when RHOSLC Season 3 debuts on September 28, 2022.
5 basic facts regarding RHOSLC Jen Shah’s lawsuit and hearings
1) Jen Shah has been conducting her “fraudulent” operation since 2012.
Jen Shah is accused of scamming hundreds of individuals, many of whom were over the age of 55, via a telemarketing operation that covered six states. She has been operating this scam since 2012. Jen and her employee Stuart Smith reportedly preyed on vulnerable elderly, offering them “business services” and executing “fraudulent schemes” that Shah admits had little to no value.
According to HSI Special Agent-in-Charge Peter C. Fitzhugh, the RHOSLC star and her aide identified their victims as ‘leads’ to be sold. Shah and Smith were both charged with wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering. Jen was arrested in March of 2021. She originally rejected the claims and pledged to fight all charges.
2) Shah was detained in a parking lot after canceling her holiday plans with her co-star.
Jen Shah was arrested during shooting an episode of RHOSLC Season 2, which will premiere on Bravo on November 7, 2021. She was getting ready to depart with her co-stars for a vacation to Vail, Colorado. Jen fled the stage after getting a call that she originally said was about her spouse being hospitalized due to abdominal bleeding.
Off-camera, she was detained in the Beauty Lab parking lot by Homeland Security, the New York Police Department, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Jen told Heather Gay that she felt she was being abducted when a white minivan and a black SUV approached her in the parking lot. Shah also accused the cops of breaking into her home and waving a pistol at her kid.
3) Shah first pled not guilty to the charges.
Jen pled not guilty in April to both accusations of conspiracy to conduct wire fraud and money laundering. Prosecutors, on the other hand, said that her deception garnered her at least $5 million. Jen was requested to relinquish her passport by the court because she constituted a flight risk. Shah’s trial was supposed to start on July 18, but she pled guilty on July 11 and is now waiting for her sentence. In Season 2, she informed her co-stars that she was innocent. In Season 3, she may have to explain her plea agreement to them.
4) Shah may face a 30-year prison term.
In November 2022, the RHOSLC star will be sentenced. Shah faces up to 30 years in jail, but she is hoping to work out a plea agreement that will restrict her term to 11 to 14 years. As part of a plea deal, the US attorney has already dropped the conspiracy to conduct money laundering allegation, cutting her possible jail term from 50 years to 30 years.
5) Jen’s assistant also changed his plea in the middle of the trial.
Stuart was arrested the same day as Jen and pleaded not guilty. He amended his plea to guilty in November 2021 and promised to testify against his old employer. He has yet to be sentenced. Jen may be seen in the RHOSLC Season 3 promo blaming everything on her former aide Stuart Smith, claiming that she is innocent.
