Ryan Bingham, a musician-turned-actor, has officially changed his name from Ryan Axster Bingham to George Ryan Bingham. The Yellowstone actor has opted to shed the surname “Axster,” which was his ex-wife Anna Axster’s maiden name. Bingham and Axster divorced in June 2021, which might explain why the singer-songwriter sought to officially alter his name. However, as per his petition, no explanation has been provided behind the name change, except that he would “like to go back to using [his] my birth name”.
Ryan Bingham is well-known for his outstanding musical and acting careers. He rose to prominence as a result of his role in the drama series Yellowstone, in which he played Walker, a ranch worker who was a former prisoner.
Ryan Bingham’s Yellowstone persona ‘Walker’ after his legal name change
Ryan Bingham, who is considering adopting his original name as his legal name again, plays a character in Yellowstone who grew up in comparable circumstances to the actor. Although it is unknown if he wants to return to his origins, the actor told Vanity Fair that his upbringing suited him for his part as Walker. He grew raised in New Mexico and Texas, where his uncles rode bulls and his grandpa was a rancher, he claimed.
The actor continued:
“In our family, junior rodeos were like Little League.”
Bingham also noted that as a youngster, he loved wearing cowboy hats and listening to country music. Walker, his character, is a former prisoner who has come to work at the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch. Walker accepted the ranch job to demonstrate that he was serious about working hard and making good decisions in his life.
He fell in love with Laramie (Hassie Harrison) and fought with fellow ranch worker Lloyd (Forrie J. Smith.) Lloyd and Walker had long been feuding, with Lloyd destroying Walker’s instrument and throwing a knife at his chest. Ryan Bingham’s Yellowstone character, like himself, is a music enthusiast who enjoys singing and playing his guitar. At the ranch, he entertains people and shows his creativity via his songs. Bingham, who has appeared in four seasons of Yellowstone, is likely to return in the fifth season, which begins on November 13, 2022.
Ryan Bingham, a musician, landed the part of Walker in Yellowstone.
During an interview with Pop Culture, Bingham mentioned the unusual method he was approached for the project. When Ryan revealed his rodeo past to Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan, the latter crafted a part for the musician. Bingham recalled meeting Sheridon when the latter was writing and directing a film called Wind River. Taylor had approached Bingham about writing a song for the film, and although the singer was unable to come up with anything, the two remained in contact.
When Yellowstone first began, Taylor approached Bingham about composing a song or repurposing one of his earlier songs.
He went on to say:
“And after a time, he discovered that I had a background with rodeo and the cowboy stuff. ‘Heck, I’ve had to write you into this show,’ he said. And that is how it all began.”
Ryan Bingham will have a court hearing in December to determine if he may resume using the name George Ryan Bingham.
