Chris Hadfield was born on a corn farm in Sarnia, Ontario, to parents Roger and Eleanor, and at the age of nine, he witnessed the Apollo 11 moon landing on television. He was a sky instructor before becoming an Air Force test pilot. He attended White Oaks Secondary School in Oakville, Ontario, and graduated from Milton District High School in his senior year. He joined the Air Force immediately after graduating from high school.
