Dave Mirra, also known as David Michael Mirra, was a BMX rider from the United States. He holds the record for the most X Games medals in BMX Freestyle. He is well-known for his vert ramp and park riding abilities. Mirra was a member of the 2014 Race Across America winning team.

Dave Mirra was born on April 4, 1974, in Chittenango, New York, and died by suicide on February 4, 2016, in Greenville, North California. Dave Mirra graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and then moved to Greenville, North California, to attend East California University. Mirra and Lauren, his wife, had two daughters.

Mirra began racing at the age of 13 in 1987 when he joined the Haro Bikes BMX team. In 1989, he received sponsorship from Vision Street Wear. In 1992, he became a professional racer. It is remarkable that he won a medal at the X Games every year from 1995 to 2009, totaling 24 medals until 2013, with the exception of 2006.
He competed in rallying and rallycross as a member of Subaru Rally Team USA from 2008 to 2013. He was also interested in Ironman competitions, and in March 2013, he competed in his first Triathlon. Mirra’s success propelled him into fields other than bike riding.
Mirra has a total of 24 X Games medals to her name. In 2005, he received the ESPY Award for Best Male Action Sports Athlete. Apart from these medals and awards, his racing record is outstanding, with outstanding results in the FIA World Rallycross Championship and the Global Rallycross Championship at both the Entrant and Supercar levels. Because of the success of rider Dave Mirra, Greenville is now home to over twenty professional BMX riders.
The late Dave Mirra was inducted into the BMX Hall of Fame in Chula Vista, California. Only one rider per category is inducted into the BMX Hall of Fame each year, but Mirra received an automatic induction during the voting process in March. Mirra watched as 2,500 athletes, including a friend from his hometown of Syracuse, New York, swam two loops around Mirror Lake, cycled 112 miles, and finished with a 26.2-mile run through town and around the lake.
