Aaron Eckhart was born on March 12, 1968, in Cupertino, California, to Mary Martha Lawrence and James Conrad Eckhart. His mother was a poet and writer, and his father was a computer engineer. He was raised with two siblings. He was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served a two-year mission in France.
Because of his father’s transfer, Aaron’s entire family was relocated to the United Kingdom when he was 17 years old. He finished his education at American Community School. He received his bachelor’s degree in film from Brigham Young University-Hawaii.
